With its newest ship, Seven Seas Prestige, Regent Seven Seas Cruises will introduce a more relaxed approach to onboard dining, with these more casual options to sit alongside its more refined restaurants.
When the vessel launches in December 2026, it will feature a mix of refreshed interiors and reimagined menus, along with two brand new dining concepts and a greater focus on providing meals in a more laidback setting.
At an event at The Langham Sydney on Friday, VP Sales and GM, Asia Pacific Lisa Pile told media and travel advisors that this new approach comes in response to a growing guest preference for casual sophistication over formality.
“One of the pieces of feedback we receive from everyone is the world is getting a little bit more casual, and people don’t want to go fine dining every night,” she said.Subscribe to LATTE Cruise’s free eNewsletter to keep up to date with everything in the luxury cruise space. This shift is most notably reflected in the transformation of Chartreuse, Regent’s signature French restaurant – both in terms of its décor and its menu. “Chartreuse on the Explorer Class ships was more fine dining, but now we’re reviewing all of Chartreuse, and it’s becoming more bistro French,” Pile shared. “So it’s got that more relaxed atmosphere and not so heavy on the sauces.”
Chartreuse isn’t the only venue evolving. The all-new Pool Grill is now designed to accommodate guests who prefer informal dining after a long day ashore. “They just naturally gravitate to the pool deck for a glass of champagne or a beer, and some people just don’t want to go back to their suite, have a shower, get dressed again for dinner,” Pile noted. “So, we’re reintroducing dining by the pool”.
The venue will have a “beach club atmosphere” with a relaxed feel.Among the new concepts is Azure, a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant offering flavours from across the region, including Northern Africa. Although it has a strong visual identity, featuring arabesque patterns, Mediterranean colours and an eye-catching olive-inspired chandelier, the atmosphere will be casual and welcoming, Pile revealed.
Alfresco dining has also been prioritised, again in response to customer feedback. “There are so many more alfresco dining options on board this ship,” Pile said, citing multiple outdoor venues including La Veranda and a yet-to-be-named new restaurant behind Compass Rose.
“What we’ve done differently here is it’s created a larger space, and we’ve actually got the roof covered,” Pile said. “So once again, no matter what weather you’re in, enjoy that back space.”
