Avalon Waterways has reported record breaking bookings and surging demand for its 2026 cruises on the back of a growing portfolio of experiences. With year-to-date sales already 17% ahead of 2024 and 7% higher than 2025 (at the same time last year), Avalon credited the strong performance to its offer of a “smarter, more personalised” way to cruise. “We didn’t just elevate river cruise ships – we reimagined the entire river cruise experience,” Managing Director Asia Pacific, Globus family of brands Chris Hall said. “The record demand we’re seeing is more than cruising’s popularity. It’s about Avalon’s difference: Suite Ships with a view, passion-filled excursions and the freedom to cruise your way.” The popularity of Rhine River cruises endures, with Avalon highlighting its Romantic Rhine itinerary as its most popular.

Meanwhile, on the Danube River, guests are enjoying two different itineraries – Danube Dreams along the classic upper stretch and Balkan Discovery which explores the less-travelled Lower Danube. The company confirmed France as its strongest growth market, with its Paris to Normandy itinerary a best-seller, closely followed by Bonjour Bordeaux – its newest cruise. Christmas cruises continue to soar, with Christmastime on the Danube at the fore. Beyond Europe, Mekong River bookings are up 76% on 2025, where the company’s Suite Ship which winds through Vietnam and Cambodia, caters to just 36 guests. The company also highlighted its Avalon Choice excursions as well as its Active & Discovery cruises as another major driver of its 2026 success, allowing customers to personalise their river cruise experience.
