Nomads Secrets and Sydney-based independent bookstore, Bookoccino, have teamed up to launch the Luxury Literary Tours Collection led by internationally acclaimed authors. The small-group journeys harvest the literary contacts of Bookoccino co-owner Ray Bonner – a Pulitzer prize winner and former New York Times foreign correspondent – and the experience of Nomads Secrets – an all-inclusive luxury boutique operator – to create unforgettable, immersive pathways for travellers.

Treasures of India

The collection will kick off in January 2020 with Treasures of India, led by acclaimed author and former diplomat and journalist, John Zubrzycki. This specially curated 19-day tour will offer participants a rare and personalised insight into the princely opulence, magic and mystery that excites the imagination and forms the background of Zubrzycki best-selling books – Empire of Enchantment, The Last Nizam and The Mysterious Mr Jacob.
Tracing the histories, characters, themes and the greatest locations where Zubrzycki’s four books come to life, 16 travellers will journey from Kolkata, Hyderabad and Udaipur to Mumbai, stopping in Jaipur to experience the dazzling Jaipur Literature Festival. As a three-time festival guest speaker, Zubrzycki will introduce participants to leading authors from India and around the world. The tour also includes an exclusive evening with internationally renowned author, historian and BBC broadcaster William Dalrymple at the Jawai Leopard Camp for drinks and dinner and a fascinating lecture on his latest book. Guests are accommodated at palace hotels within the acclaimed Taj Group portfolio. Tour details: Limited to 16 travellers | 19 days from AU$19,450 per person Tour dates: 19 January- 6 February, 2020 For full itinerary: nomadssecrets.com/literarytours/india2020/

A Week in Paris

The second journey in the collection will be A Week in Paris in June 2020 led by prolific Brazilian born British author and former New York Times journalist, Alan Riding, who will shine a light on Paris, a city that has always revered journals, essays, plays, novels – and writers. With engaging talks by three literary experts and walks through the City of Light, travellers will visit the locations where luminaries of the literary world from Molière, Beaumarchais to Hugo, Proust and Modiano lived, worked and were eventually laid to rest. Alan Riding will dig under the skin of the French capital where he has lived for over 30 years. Using the copious detective-like research employed to write his books And The Show Went On: Cultural Life in Nazi-Occupied Paris and Opera, he will reveal the city’s hidden secrets in ways that very few have the opportunity to experience.
While enjoying the comfort of a 5-star boutique hotel on the prestigious Left Bank, the tour also includes exclusive private lunchtime talks by French novelist Agnès Desarthe and African-American writer Jake Lamar at the iconic Bofinger and Drouant. To top it all, guests will visit the incredible home of writer, poet and filmmaker Jean Cocteau in the beautiful French country side and spend a glamorous night at the Opera. Tour details: Limited to 16 travellers | 8 days from AU$9,780 per person Tour dates: 8 June – 15 June, 2020 For more information: nomadssecrets.com/literarytoursWant to be in the luxury travel know?
