Italy has jumped to the top of the list of international destinations Australian luxury travellers want to visit for the spring and Christmas/New Year period, according to feedback from Virtuoso’s 1,200-strong network of Australian-based travel advisors.
The results of the survey were released at the Virtuoso Travel Week in Las Vegas where more than 6,000 leading luminaries have congregated this week.
The study revealed the ‘hottest trends’ among Virtuoso’s Australian-based luxury clientele. Italy, which was equal second with Canada in 2018, is now the leading overseas destination sought. The United States, which lead the same table last year, slipped to the fourth most favoured holiday hotspot. The UK has seen a considerable resurgence, positioned as the second-most-favoured destination after not even making the top five last year.
Domestically, Tasmania was the pick of destinations, moving up from second place in 2018, as last year’s leader, Queensland, slipped out of the top five too.
