On 25 August 2015, travel company Boutique South America advised travellers that they can still travel to the famous ruins of Machu Picchu in Peru during April 2016 despite the partial closure of certain areas. Closures include access to Wayna Picchu and Machu Picchu Mountain, which are planned to be closed during different weeks in April 2016 for maintenance. Founder of Boutique South America, Katherine Garces, assures travellers that the closures in April “will not affect the majority of visitors to Machu Picchu as the trails are only used by more adventurous travellers or climbers.” Ms Garces confirmed that April is a good time to travel to Peru and Machu Picchu and, “Unless you already had your heart set on climbing Wayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain, travellers do not need to change their travel plans to Peru or South America. “ Pre-purchasing of entrances is advised and can be arranged by local tour companies on behalf of travellers.
