The new lounge is about an eight-minute walk from Qantas’ long-running Business Lounge at Changi Airport. Like its sister First Lounges in Sydney and Melbourne, the lounge features an extensive range of all day dining options, created by Qantas’ Creative Director of Food, Beverage and Service, Neil Perry AM, including such favourites as salt and pepper squid with green chilli dipping sauce and aioli, grilled barramundi with charred lettuce, croutons and caper, anchovy and parsley butter and his signature laksa with crayfish, rice noodles, bean sprouts and egg. However, as Signature Media’s Group Editor Cathy Wagstaff discovered this week, not appearing on the menu, and popular in the Australian First Lounges, is the quintessential dessert, Perry’s Signature pavlova with raspberries and blueberries. Travellers will be able to freshen up in one of the 10 shower suites, which are complemented by LaGaia Unedited First spa products. With a capacity of 240 customers, the lounge features two bars: a cocktail bar which serves French champagne, seasonal spritzes, Singapore-inspired cocktails, such as the Calamansi Mojito and the Tamarind Talisman, Singaporean and Australian beers, along with a selection of Australian beers and cider (James Squire Lashes and Orchard Crush Cider, Little Creatures Bright Ale); and a dining bar. There’s also an barista serving Vittoria coffee around the clock. The First Lounge also has an abundance of USB and charging ports throughout for customers to stay charged and offers wireless printing multiple TV screens to remain connected. The Qantas First Lounge is operated by Accor’s luxury hotel brand, Sofitel. Qantas operates over 50 return services in to and out of Changi Airport each week.
