Shipbuilder Ulstein has announced that the sea trials for the next Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic ship were successfully carried out last weekend. The 126-guest polar vessel, National Geographic Endurance, will soon to return to the shipyard, Ulstein Verft, for the final construction phase before setting off to explore the Arctic, commencing in April.
The comprehensive sea trial tests included exercises of the propulsion and navigation systems and emergency manoeuvres such as a live test of the Safe Return To Port system. National Geographic Endurance is Lindblad Expeditions’ first polar newbuild, and has been designed by Ulstein Design & Solutions AS. It is a next-generation expedition ship that is purpose built for polar navigation. Image credit: Ulstein/Marius Ertesvåg
