Hurtigruten staff were among the select group of passengers on the MS Fridtjof Nansenlast week as the expedition cruise line’s second hybrid-powered ship prepared for its first official voyage over the weekend. Hurtigruten Australia Key Account Manager Alex Morton was one of the lucky few to trial the ship’s facilities on a sailing from Belfast to London. “Embarking in Belfast was a really exciting day, on so many levels. Not only was it my first time sailing with Hurtigruten, but I was joining one of the maiden voyages of a world-class hybrid powered expedition ship,” said Morton, who has been with the Norwegian expedition cruise line for six months. “The ship is incredibly beautiful, spacious and well designed,” Morton said.“We noticed so many clever ways the ship encourages sustainability including the water refilling stations on every deck and the complimentary aluminium drink bottle for every guest.” One of the voyage’s stops included Douglas, on the Isle of Man, where guests were invited to join a Beach Buddies clean-up. “It was great to know that we left this beautiful place just a little bit better than when we found it.”
