Federal Minister for Trade and Investment, Andrew Robb, announced Tony South as the new chairman for Tourism Australia. Tony South has been a leading contributor to the tourism industry for many years. Mr Robb said “Having held senior commercial and executive roles across the Asia Pacific, Tony brings excellent skills and experience to the role of Chair.” In making the announcement Robb thanked outgoing Chair Geoff Dixon, whose term expired 30 June 2015, for his successful contribution to Tourism Australia. Mr South has served on Tourism Australia’s Board since July 2014 and is currently acting as the interim deputy-Chair, after Mr Dixon stepped down in June. Tourism Australia’s managing director John O’Sullivan expects the transition to be smooth. Robb also said an announcement would be made in the near future on three new directors to join the Board.
