Prizes including a resort villa, a luxury Mercedes-Benz sedan and lifetime golf club membership will be on offer when the inaugural Laguna Classic amateur golf tournament is played at Laguna Lang Co Golf Club near Danang, Vietnam in mid November. To be hosted by the course’s designer, six-times Major winner Sir Nick Faldo, the two-day tournament on 13 to 14 November is open to all amateur golfers, who will have the opportunity to experience one of Asia’s top golf resort destinations and meet one of the modern legends of golf. They will compete in men’s and women’s handicap divisions in 36 holes stroke-play format, with Sir Nick presenting prizes as well as conducting a pre-tournament golf clinic and providing unique insights into his playing career that netted 41 professional tournament victories, including three US Masters and three (British) Open Championships. Opened in 2013, Laguna Lang Co is owned and operated by Banyan Tree Group and features Banyan Tree and Angsana hotels, exclusive villas and the 18-hole golf course situated on a three-kilometre beach along Lang Co Bay, an hour’s drive north of Vietnam’s fourth largest city, Danang. Sir Nick, who opened the course in March 2013, is an ambassador for Laguna Lang Co, regarded as Vietnam’s only fully-integrated tourism resort. The tournament winner, based on the lowest gross score, will receive an unlimited golf holiday at Laguna Phuket resort in Thailand and lifetime membership at Laguna Lang Co Golf Club worth USD24,000. A new Laguna Park Lang Co home worth close to USD300,000 and a Mercedes-Benz E Class saloon worth USD100,000 will be on offer for holes in one during the tournament. Numerous other prizes for net and daily winners in three men’s and one ladies’ handicap division, longest drive and nearest the pin will also be presented by Sir Nick Faldo. Participants from many parts of Asia will be treated to a welcome cocktail party on arrival at the resort on 12 November, a golf clinic hosted by Sir Nick on 13 November before the tournament begins and an awards dinner with prizegiving ceremony after the tournament ends on 14 November. Packages including tournament play with caddie and cart, accommodation, welcome party and awards dinner are available from VND 16,400,000 (approx. USD740). Other packages, excluding accommodation, are available from VND5,500,000 (approx. USD250). Registrations close on November 2 and can be made at Laguna Lang Co or email: van.le@lagunalangco.com
