Discover the World and Hurtigruten have announced the release of the new 2016/17 Norway Coastal and Explorer Voyages brochures. Hurtigruten 2016/17 Norway Coastal Hurtigruten have revamped its coastal product to include new expedition style voyages and a la carte dining, as well as a number of new excursions & private transfer options. Highlights include:
  • From January 2016, 3 of Hurtigruten’s coastal ships (MS Nordnorge, MS Nordkapp and MS Nordlys) will offer all the activities and services of a Hurtigruten voyage but with an expedition team on-board, who will be offering a series of hikes in selected ports as well as daily lectures about flora and fauna, fishing traditions, polar & Viking history as well as geology, glaciology and climate.
  • Sample local specialities with a new a la carte dining option – implemented on nine of the coastal ships, most voyages are based on half or full-board, but for a small supplement, guests can upgrade to a more intimate dining area and a la carte menu. With locally sourced ingredients like cod, scallops, crayfish & langoustine, reindeer, tender sirloin of beef and cloudberries, the menus will change with the season and there will be options to suit every taste. The a la carte option is only bookable on-board with supplements from approximately £16. It is not currently available on MS Lofoten or MS Vesterålen.
  • Clearer cabin choices. Guests booking a suite will also now get wine included with dinner and private transfers (Bergen only) as well as an upgraded amenity kit. Those booking a superior cabin can also arrange private transfers, but at an additional cost.
